BeeDay
Birthdays and the little things, remembered.
- iPhone
- Apple Watch
A calm, ad-free birthday app that counts down to every birthday on your Home and Lock Screen — solar or Chinese lunar. Give each person a honeycomb of anniversaries and little notes, let friends fill in their own birthday from a link, and keep it all in your own iCloud.

What BeeDay does
BeeDay is a birthday and anniversary app for iPhone and Apple Watch. Add the people you care about and it keeps one clean list, sorted by whose day comes next, with a countdown for each of them. The same countdowns sit on your Home Screen and Lock Screen as widgets, so a birthday never sneaks up on you.
It is free, with no ads and no limit on how many people you add. There is no account to create: everything you enter stays in your own private iCloud and syncs between your own devices.
Solar and Chinese lunar birthdays
Many families keep some birthdays on the Chinese lunar calendar, and a lunar birthday falls on a different solar date every year. BeeDay understands both calendars. Mark a date as lunar and BeeDay works out where it lands each year, so a grandparent’s birthday is remembered on the right day, and the reminder arrives in time. Solar and lunar dates are shown side by side.
A honeycomb for every person
Open a person and you find their comb. The first cell holds their birthday. The other cells hold whatever you want to remember: a wedding anniversary, the day you met, the day the dog came home, how they take their coffee, a shoe size you keep forgetting. Cells with a date get the same quiet reminders as birthdays, lunar dates included, and you can drag the cells into whatever order makes sense to you.
Let friends add their own birthday
Instead of asking everyone for their date and typing it in, share a link. Friends open it in a browser, fill in their own name and birthday, plus one thing about themselves, and BeeDay lets you know so you can add them with a tap. You can also hand your phone to someone and let them type their own name. If the birthdays are already in your phone, import them from Contacts in one go.
Everything else in the app
- Quiet, well-timed local reminders — never marketing notifications
- An Apple Watch app, so the comb is on your wrist too
- A hand-drawn card to send on the day
- Optional holidays for the regions your people live in, such as Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn, Thanksgiving and Boxing Day — about thirty in all, and none appear unless you turn them on
- Ask Siri when someone’s birthday is, or to open their page
- A star sign for every solar birthday, if you want it
Private by design
Birthdays live in your personal iCloud through Apple’s CloudKit, which the developer cannot read. Contacts are read only on your device, and only when you choose to import. BeeDay has no advertising, no analytics SDKs and no third-party tracking. The BeeDay privacy policy on this site covers the details.
